The Zone I Web Site is dedicated to Corliss Knapp Engle, Chestnut Hill Garden Club (1936-2009)

A passionate horticulturist, and a skilled administrator, Corliss saw the potential for a Zone I web site, and worked tirelessly with Susan and Gary Kearney to develop it. The scope of the original site continues to expand. We salute our friend, mentor, and GCA hero for her vision, her determination, and her leadership.

I would like to thank all of you who shared your suggestions, materials, photographs, and your archival data to make this Zone I web site rejuvenation possible. It is with gratitude I salute Margot Paddock, GCA Zone I Director, Beth Meyer Zone I Chairman, Marguerite Borden, Zone I Vice Chairman, Connie Oliver, Advisor, MaryEllen O'Brien, Zone I Bulletin Rep., and of course Susan and Gary Kearney for their enthusiastic support and their assistance in bringing this project to fullfillment as Corliss would have wished. Here is her report to the Zone announcing that she had asked me to take on the managing of the web site, which I promise to do to the best of my ability.

In addition, I would like to thank Munro Bonnell, at GCA Headquarters for his guidance, and  Jean Jones, our consultant, both for designing this user friendly site and for her patience. Arabella Dane January 2010
